What is the difference between spam and treat

My mother used to make me a Treat sandwich every day for lunch. That was so long ago that it was common practice for a mother to be at home when her 5 year old arrived at lunchtime, after walking a non-adult-supervised mile from kindergarten. I can't eat Treat, Spam, or any potted meat today but I'm saying Treat is pretty good for nostalgia. Jennifer Scout. Joined Nov 3, Messages Likes Ahnkochee said:.

Both are different in their own wonderful, delicious porky goodness. Spam is Spam, but Treet is nice once in a while for a different flavored and textured Scares Bears Guide Bushclass I. Last edited: Dec 26, Me, upthecreek and Csuggs had a get together a couple of months ago and I brought a can of treat.

It got fried up on the fire and some of it was eaten. If I was starving, I could have gotten more of it down. Truthfully, I would pass on it. Spam isn't my favorite thing but it is vastly more edible than treat. Sorry for the heresy. Pinebaron Curmudgeon. Treat is no treat. Spam however KYLongknife Scout. Spam is pork shoulder, little known fact , Treat is all the other stuff that may or may not be what you would consider a "cut" of meat.

Nothing wrong with either. Wonder bread, slice of onion a little mustard it's a samich! Ring of red, loaf of bread as they say on the "Res". Spam all the way for me. From reading these posts it sounds like Treat may be made from the parts that ain't good enough to go in the Spam.

Remember, you are what you eat, that is why this time of year I look like a balloon. Hale Guide. OregonDave Guide. Saturated Fat in Grams: 3. Trans Fat in Grams: 0 0.

Another factor that makes them so popular is their distant best by dates which is a particularly important piece of information when it comes to emergency food storage. I bought these two cans last week, and the best by dates are as follows: Treet - September ;. Like I said, I never had it, I never even knew anyone who ate it. To me it still smells like cat food, is very salty, the mushy texture and the gelatinous coating are just too much for my wimpy stomach.

I always had Treet growing up cause it was cheaper than Spam. We were too poor for ultra-classy Spam, which I pictured only wealthy people ate. Just meat, salt, and water I think. Eat the damn stuff and enjoy it! I grew up eating fried spam for breakfast. I cut it thin and fried it for my kids who loved it. Now when my grandkids come over they want fried spam and pancakes for breakfast instead of bacon.

Try frying it and see the difference. Once upon a time, fried Spam was pretty good. But Hormel has done something to the recipe. Ignore the people who call for a do-over with fried Spam. Stumbled into this by accident. Surprised no one mentioned this classic Monty Python bit. Never eat it straight out of the can… I remember eating fried Spam as a child, but as an adult an online recipe brought me back to SPAM.

I took it to an office potluck, and everyone loved it. Spam is not mystery meat. It is pork shoulder and ham with gelatin and spices. It was invented by a gourmet chef for soldiers in WWII. I love Spam from the can, smells good, tastes good on white bread with mayo and tomato. I share a bit with my doggy. Did you cook it? Fry it up crispy and eat it like a BLT?

If you ate it straight from the can you did not give it a chance. Cooking it to crispy on the outside makes a HUGE difference.
